Richmond Hill has officially drawn the line on e-scooter use, and riders need to pay attention.

Richmond Hill Council approved a new Micromobility Strategy in late 2025, setting clear, enforceable rules for kick-style electric scooters across the city.

Riders may now use personal e-scooters on roads with speed limits of 50 km/h or less, along with designated bike lanes, cycle tracks, and multi-use paths.

Sidewalks, parks, and trails are completely off-limits — and that ban extends across York Region.

City officials are also exploring shared rental e-scooter programs as a potential future option for residents.

When a developer appeals a planning decision that could reshape your neighbourhood, understanding how the Ontario Land Tribunal works isn't optional — it's essential.

The OLT is Ontario's provincial body that rules on appeals of municipal planning decisions, including zoning amendments and site plan approvals.

In Richmond Hill, the stakes are especially high.

Richmond Hill Council passed a Comprehensive Zoning By-law in September 2025 — and it was promptly appealed.

A separate appeal is also underway for a proposed 10-storey, 229-unit tower on Bayview Avenue, a project city staff oppose due to its proximity to a provincially significant wetland.

OLT decisions are final and binding, with further appeals limited to strict questions of law before the Divisional Court.

Getting informed and engaged early remains the most powerful tool residents have.

Your Hair Survived Summer. Now It Needs Help.

Summer was fun. Your hair may disagree.

Between pool days, sunshine, humidity, sweat, extra washes and a little too much quality time with the flat iron, September can arrive with hair that suddenly feels drier, rougher and way less cooperative.

So this week’s Beauty Drop is simple:

Give your hair a break.

  • Bring Back the Moisture

A good deep conditioner, hydrating mask or lightweight hair oil can help bring back some softness after months of sun, chlorine and heat.

  • Keep Protecting It

Just because summer is almost over doesn’t mean the sun suddenly stopped showing up.

UV exposure can still dry out hair and fade colour, so a leave-in product with UV protection is worth keeping around.

  • Ease Up on the Frizz Fight

When hair gets dry, frizz usually joins the party.

Try a lightweight smoothing cream, serum or anti-frizz treatment.

  • Maybe Give the Flat Iron a Day Off

Your hair already spent the summer getting cooked by the sun.

It probably doesn’t need a second shift.

And if you are using heat?

Heat protectant. Every time.

  • Don’t Forget Your Scalp

Summer buildup is sneaky.

Sweat, dry shampoo, sunscreen and styling products can all hang around longer than invited.

An occasional gentle clarifying treatment or scalp cleanse can help give everything a fresh start.

Gentle is the important word.

We’re cleaning your scalp.

We’re not stripping the paint off the walls.

  • The September Hair Reset

You don’t need a bathroom shelf full of new products.

Just remember five things:

  1. Hydrate.
  2. Protect.
  3. Smooth.
  4. Use less heat.
  5. Clean the scalp.

That’s it.

Because after everything your hair survived this summer, the least we can do is stop attacking it for a few weeks.

And if it still looks good after chlorine, humidity, ponytails, dry shampoo and one too many passes with a flat iron?

Honestly, it deserves a medal.
