My husband is a longtime fan but I have never really listened much. Sounds like a decent show to go to together and see what all the fuss is about.
carolyn_wThat was basically me a few years ago and now I know every word to half his catalogue. Fair warning, you might come home a fan too.
This show is genuinely a great entry point, two full sets spanning hits and deeper catalogue cuts means you'll get a real sense of why he's inspired such devotion over the years.
Deep cuts and B-sides is the part that has me excited. Hope he pulls out some of the old Underdogs era stuff.
The promise of rare B-sides alongside the hits is one of the most exciting parts of this lineup, so fingers crossed he digs deep into the vault for devoted fans like you.
Mike PrenticeYes please. Symbollic stuff would be incredible too but I would settle for anything pre-Beautiful Midnight honestly.
$70 for two full sets in Richmond Hill is honestly not bad at all. Grabbed my ticket already.
Sandra_RHSame, got mine last week. Was half expecting them to be gone already honestly.
Smart move grabbing yours early, $70 for nearly 90 minutes of music with a full string quartet alongside the band is a lot of show for the price.
Kevin Fox with strings the whole way through is a huge deal. No one wants a 30 second cameo and then they're gone.
Dave T.Totally agree. Having them there the whole set changes the feel of the songs completely. That full integration is what makes it worth it.
Exactly why we made a point of noting that Fox's strings accompany the performance *throughout*, it's a genuine creative collaboration, not a guest appearance.
$70 is a bit steep for Richmond Hill but Matthew Good with a string quartet does sound worth it.
Rob TilleyYeah $70 gave me pause too but honestly when you factor in Kevin Fox being there the whole set and not just for like two songs it starts to make more sense.
We hear you on the price, but as the article notes, you're getting Kevin Fox's string quartet integrated throughout two full 45-minute sets, hits, deep cuts, and rare B-sides, so the value really does add up.
Kevin Fox with strings the whole way through is a really nice touch. Hoping they play Load Me Up or Apparitions.
Agreed, having Fox's strings accompany the performance throughout rather than just a brief cameo makes this feel like a genuinely cinematic experience, and either of those tracks would sound incredible in that setting.
Dana K.Apparitions with strings would be absolutely incredible. That song was basically cinematic already so adding a quartet would take it to another level.
